Poison Notes: Here is an excellent set by lengendary guitarist, singer, and songwriter Bert Jansch at the relatively-new Durham Perfoming Arts Center in Durham, North Carolina on Friday, April 15th 2011. He was, of course, opening for Neil Young, which I hope to upload soon. Of special interest is "The Sweet Bird of Paradise," though I'm not sure of that title. A beautiful song. After "Duckin' and Divin'," I started to get nervous that the Zoom recorder was on the wrong mic level setting so I switched it from medium to low. This meant I had to adjust the levels of the rest of the songs to make it sound the same as the first half. Other than that, I have not altered the recording at all. The audience was "extremely quiet" to quote Jansch, so the resulting recording is pretty sweet, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. If you download this recording, please do not convert to lossy formats, and please support Bert Jansch by buying his music and seeing him live. Buy "The Black Swan" if you haven't already.
