Neil Young United Palace Theatre New York, NY December 12, 2007 So this multi-night stand in NYC starts like a scene from the movie Donnie Brasco. Somebody forgot to pay off the Fire Marshall, thus the start of the show was delayed for about an hour and a half, while we all stood outside the theatre on a line that went around the glock in the cold of winter ... like they could give a darn. Heard mixed stories about the reason, ranging from them being pissed that they sold about 400 standing room tix about two weeks ago, to a malfunctioning sprinkler system, to no free tix to the FDNY, thus this was payback. It was as Neil said, all "Bullshit." One commentary mused that Neil should have opened with "Payola Blues", but it was not to be. Glad to say it was all up hill after that ... the waiting only intensified the anticipation that made for a great show. Sorry they had to cut out Pegi's set, but the show went on late enough as it was. Needless to say, Neil did not disappoint. You should find this recording very enjoyable, and up to my usual standards. The crowd around me was most respectful, the worst of it was the loud clapper behind me, and he only clapped betweeen songs, but unfortunatly always had to be the last one to clap. You all probably won't even notice him like I did ... Great seeing edtyre in the crowd ... he had the left side covered, and one day we will figure out how to synch and blend our two recordings. Looking forward to seeing at least one more show at this wonderful "new" venue, if not more. Recorded from the 8th Row, Right of Center, 6 Rows FOB.
